Honda, Gail

Gail HondaA Hawaii native steeped in the culture of the islands, Gail Honda infuses all of her writing workshops with warmth, caring, and the aloha spirit.  From the planning stages, through the lively team exercises of the workshop, until the very end when every participant has received individual feedback, Gail gives her heart and soul every step of the way.  This is because she sincerely wants each participant to realize that smart writing is a powerful tool that goes hand-in-hand with professional success.

Each of her sessions is custom-tailored using actual writing samples provided by the client, so the examples used in the sessions are relevant, applicable, and immediately useful.  Gail also goes the extra mile by providing individual written feedback on the participants’ writing exercises and mailing her comments back to the client within about a week.

Gail Honda is a professional writer and editor, trainer, and university instructor.  She holds a B.A. from Northwestern University, and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Two of her most popular workshops include:

Writing for the Business Professional

Writing as a business professional means more than writing correctly and clearly.  It means writing to present your image and that of your company in the best light.  Through good writing, you can also strengthen relationships with customers, bosses, and co-workers.  In this class, we will use writing exercises, discussion, and individual feedback to enhance the tone of your messages.  We will cover email, letters, memos, and handwritten notes and discuss the pros and cons of each.

Technical Writing So Anyone Can Understand

Excellent technical writing can sell products, get your proposals accepted, and increase employee productivity.  Are you faced with the challenge of writing technical information for a broad audience?  Then your mission is to convey information as quickly and simply and clearly as possible.  If you are successful, your readers will take the right action:  accept your proposal, use a technical product correctly, or do their job properly.  We will cover the steps necessary to turn complex, technical information into easy-to-understand ideas. We will also cover good planning and organization, which can simplify and speed up your writing project.

Shorter workshops include:

  • People Skills on Paper
  • Polish Your Writing Skills
